Blog It Forward

Your blog writing  solves my problem – and yours!

I created the site, Agentspayingforward.com, because I wanted to provide solutions for more than just me: I want to solve a lot of problems (Lord knows there is no shortage of problems today!).  I want to solve the problem for “agents” (intentionally very ambiguous – virtually everybody’s an agent if you think about it), and I also want to solve problems for non-profits, schools, and churches (I believe in Heaven and the other place, so…..).  I also want to foster economic growth – Lord knows we need help there too!

Here’s the solution: we all work together.  That’s it.  Well, not really.  There are a few more steps, but, in a nutshell, that truly is the answer.  People need to be of service to others to build trust: something that is very much in short supply currently.  By providing a service and building trust, people will begin to provide you referrals – sales 101.  Right now the best assistance all of us need is business and/or donations if you are a charity.

Here’s what I am requesting.  I want to promote your favorite charity even further with your blog posts.  Remember at the top of this note (I know, I told you I write too much!) when I said I don’t write blog posts very well?  Please help me solve the blog writing problem, and I will help you and your charity (that seems fair; doesn’t it?).  We have a blog called Agentspayingforwardblog.com (I’m not very creative), and I want to use you to help me write posts, so I don’t have to!

The posts should show you as the writer, your contact information, and also what event or charity you are promoting.  We will post your blog in order to help get the word out, and more importantly, help you help your favorite non-profit, school, or church in their efforts.  See how the problem of my poor writing skills just got solved?  More importantly, see how solving my problem can lead to a solution that benefits you and your charity as well?

The Law of Attraction says that people will gravitate towards people who are positive and who are open to helping others: help me prove the law of attraction is more than a theory.   Please send your blog post to Agentspayingforwardblog@gmail.com and make sure you let us know if there is a time your work needs to be posted (we want to make sure we post it in time if it’s time sensitive), and we will post it – for free.  Make sure your post references you, and how to contact you – not us!

Speaking of solutions, please take a look at the information on how to use Agentspayingforward.com  for your business and charitable efforts:

Here’s a step by step description of how to use Agents Paying forward as a solution:

1.  Join Agentspayingforward.com as an agent or charity – it’s free.

2.  If you are an agent, introduce yourself to your charity (hint, you might want to make a donation to prove you are more than just talk).  Tell your charity you will donate to them further if they provide referrals in your “niche” or industry.

3.  Tell your customers about what you are doing, but, more importantly, tell your customers about your charity.  Tell your clients to support your charity by supporting you and your efforts.  Tell your clients to join Agentspayingforward.com as well, so they can also support your charity – or their own since there are many great charities!

4.  Close a transaction (or transactions), and make a donation to your charity, and/or your customers charity (they might want help too and also become a referral source for you as well).  We don’t tell you how much to donate – we want to make sure you donate so we don’t tell you how much to donate either!

5.  Remind your charity that more referrals leads to more donations when you make your donation

6.  Repeat steps 3 -5.

7.  Repeat step 6

8,  Repeat step 7……

Get it?  You build a relationship with your favorite non-profit, school, or church, and, more importantly, you provide them with donations!  In return, they trust you enough to refer you business where they can: why wouldn’t they?  You are providing the charity donations as a result of those referrals: you truly become partners!

P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for Agentspayingforward.com (I did mention it’s free; right?).  Let’s face it, times are challenging.  Many people around the world, not just in America, are struggling.  We can’t solve the problems of the world alone, so let’s work together to solve the problems “one transaction at a time”.
P.P.S. Please feel free to ask about advertising on Agentspayingforward.com as well – we can even post your youtube video as well.

Go Ahead, Be Selfish!

Let’s face it, we are all a little selfish.  We all want to be happy, we all want to be able to enjoy life, and we all want certain things: a family, a nice home, and our health.  Who doesn’t want that?  However, I’ve learned there is a good side to being “selfish”.

Some years ago, I was working too hard and my health pretty much gave out.  I couldn’t keep food in me, and, while I wasn’t fat, I dropped from 165 pounds to around 135 in a short period: it was ugly.  Frankly, I was so miserable, I considered suicide many times.  In short, I pretty much hit an emotional bottom.

A friend of mine knew I was struggling, and suggested I would find value in taking a class he took: I did and he was right.  The class was great, and taught me that, while times were tough, many have it far worse: it was incredibly enlightening.  After the class, with a renewed sense of self, I started volunteering at what used to be called “Tahoe Adaptive Ski School” (now “Disabled Sports Far West”).   I was privileged to help teach people with disabilities how to ski and snowboard.  I learned once again how blessed I am, since people with far more problems than I were persevering and having fun while doing it.

While at the ski school, I realized just how truly “selfish” I was.  I was helping these injured and disabled people learn to ski and snowboard, but, more accurately, I was “taking” from these people.  To see a man who is probably now dead laughing and struggling through his injury trying to ski was “inspiring”.  To see a 14 year old boy who had a stroke learn to “conquer” snowboarding while partially paralyzed was an incredible thrill.  To see veterans who had been severely injured fighting for our country and barely able to walk, made me realize how blessed I am to live in such a great country.  To see a young child, Charlotte,  confined to a wheelchair living life fully and laughing continuously made me realize how small my problems are.

All of the aforementioned stories and more inspired me.  These amazing people made me realize that my problems, while significant to me, pale in comparison to many.  However, these same people also inspired me to do more than volunteer.  The inspiration certainly was because I could help, but the inspiration also came from the fact that I was able to derive a level of satisfaction far superior to any monetary reward.  In short, I did it for me: I’m selfish and I encourage others to adapt the philosophy.  I was told by many of the participants that my efforts meant a lot to them, and that’s a great feeling to be acknowledged in that manner: as I said I’m selfish!  However, the other side of the equation was that I was able to help these people who needed some assistance.  In short, I felt great and the people received the assistance they needed to make their own progress – all parties won.

I started Agentspayingforward.com because I’m selfish.  I derive a lot of satisfaction in helping others succeed, and I believe providing a solution to a problem is what sales is all about.  The concept of paying it forward is a great one, but it’s also a great business tool.  The business model is quite simple too.  Once you join Agentspayingforward.com (it’s free), go introduce yourself to others: tell them what you are doing.  More importantly, if you are an agent (any kind of agent), go introduce yourself to your favorite charity.  Tell them you are going to be “paying it forward” for them: you choose the charity and the amount to provide (there is room for 3 charities on your listing when you sign up).

Close a transaction, and donate some money to your charity.  Tell the charity what you did, and ask them to send you more referrals.  Why wouldn’t the charity give you referrals?  After all, you just gave a donation!  If you close another transaction, donate again.  Do you think the recipients of your donation might appreciate your donations?  Do you think those charities might refer you again knowing that you have donated before?  After all, you didn’t just talk about donating: you did it!

If you are a charity, read the information above.  If you help somebody do business, they will be in a position to donate money to you.  If the people you look to for donations don’t do business, they will not be in a position to donate to you.  Looking at the statements above, it’s pretty clear we need to help each other in order to do business.  By working in the manner above, there is a solution to a couple of problems.  “Agents”, regardless of the type of agent, need referrals in order to do business.  Charities, in order to continue their endeavors, need money.  Isn’t it very apparent how this business model can be a great business model?  More importantly, isn’t the model described above a great way to be “selfish”.  After all, wouldn’t you like to be the agent that helps a child, fights a disease, or helps a struggling veteran?  Isn’t being selfish awesome?

KenyaRelief & Shop To Earn – Help A Great Cause While Shopping

Follow us on Twitter! @agentspayforwrd

I just received this note from a friend of mine, Chris Jones. Chris is involved with a company called “Shop to Earn” that allows you to shop for everyday products, but, by using their sales platform, you are able to support numerous charitable endeavors: Chris shared his latest client KenyaRelief.org. I think it’s a great model that you can buy everyday product, and “pay it forward” to some great causes.

Tom:

I wanted to share this letter that was sent out to all the donors with this non-profit organization. This will explain what Shop to Earn is all about. If there are organizations or individuals out there that want information about this great opportunity, they can call me at 517-605-3620 or email me at buckeyes-cjones@comcast.net.

Hello Kenya Relief Supporters,

I would like to invite you to help Kenya Relief launch an exciting new way to support our children.

Welcome to Kenya Relief’s website, www.shoptoearn.net/kenyarelief a unique website that allows you to shop online with many retailers we deal with everyday and many “green- conscious companies” , where you can purchase environmentally safe products, and partner with Kenya Relief to help make difference in the lives of the children of Marindi Children’s Home of Grace in Migori, Africa. KenyaRelief.org is a 501(c) (3) non-profit charity, and is the sole supporter for a school, an orphanage, a modern health clinic, boys and girls dorms, a church, a library, numerous support programs for widows and families, and over 100 orphans in Migori, Western Kenya.

In 2009 we are sending 9 medical and mission teams over to Kenya to provide free health care to the disadvantaged and physically disabled of Western Kenya. Kenya Relief teams have provided full health care for over 15,000 patients over the past 6 years. In 2004, Kenya Relief opened the Marindi Children’s Home of Grace: it is now a home to over 100 boys and girls who would have otherwise been left to wander the streets. Our goal is to provide spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional care to each child in their community. We are committed to raising the children to make a difference in Kenya.

Please join Kenya Relief as we launch a new way to support our efforts by using the Shop to Earn and Shop to Earth websites. When you log onto www.shoptoearn.net/kenyarelief, scroll down the page to the left hand corner, where you will see the KenyaRelief.org logo. The Pursuit of Happiness

Blog posting by Erick Pettersen of People Connect

In a movie I recently watched, the protagonist went on an extended vacation. He didn’t go to visit anyone, and he didn’t tell anyone he left. He took a cruise, on which he befriends several people. He learns from them; they learn from him. Toward the end of the movie, he contracts a virus, and the ship’s doctor can’t figure out what was wrong with him. Before the end of the cruise, he dies without saying goodbye to his family.

Though, I did not agree his decision to take his vacation without letting loved ones know, I understand why he made it. Certain people had caused so much stress in his life that he felt he needed to run. While his death brought misery to his friends and family, if he had not left he would not have learned from and taught people he met. He brought joy to them, learned and grew from them, and they did the same for him. And those people who caused him misery, and made him feel he had to leave, worked out their problems toward the end of the movie.

I believe the meaning of a person’s life is to search for happiness. In fact, we just celebrated the 233rd anniversary of our nation’s independence, declared by a document in which Thomas Jefferson reminded the British Monarchy and everyone that everyone has the right to, “The pursuit of happiness.”

If you want to connect, if you want to move forward in your personal or professional relationships, pursue happiness. If you are the one causing others pain, please stop before you lose those relationships and hurt yourself. If you are trapped and victimized by others’ selfishness, consider the effect of their negativity on your mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and how that may adversely affect those around you.

I am not encouraging divorce, nor am I encouraging anyone to stay in any type of abusive relationship. I am encouraging everyone to pursue their goals by pursuing happiness; though, never search for happiness at the expense of anyone’s misery. And all the better for a person to pursue happiness by bringing happiness to those around them.

In memory of Michael Jackson, pursue happiness by bringing happiness to those in your world.

What’s in a name?

Blog posting by Erick Pettersen of People Connect

About a month ago, I came to the painful conclusion that I was fighting an uphill battle by offering to write SEO content, yet offering it on erickpettersen.com.  I chose to name my site erickpettersen.com for two reasons.  The first was that I consider myself a man of many talents and the other was that I wanted to get my name out there before I got my product out there.  Now, that I have chosen which of my many talents I feel is the most financially lucrative, as well as I feel I have gotten my name out there, it is time for me to start marketing the service I offer.

So, yesterday I launch my new site (http://www.seobridges.com), which features a slightly new design and different services than before.  I chose this name because for the last few months the saying, “Building social bridges one word at a time” has appeared on almost every page of my site.  So, when I checked Godaddy and saw that that name was available, I snatched it up.  Then, for the next month, which has been for about the last month, I redesigned my site.

After a month of hard work, the work is not yet over.  The work is never over.  For anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit, we know that the work is never over.  Yet, for us, it’s almost like the ultimate chess game of the mind.

When I lived in Boston I adopted the motto, “the approach is everything,” and that attitude landed me a pretty decent job in the hospitality industry.  When I started looking for a job, I had little money, but I knew if I didn’t look the part no one would take me seriously.  And if nothing else, I knew I wouldn’t take me seriously.  So, I shelled out some big bucks for a new suit and a nice pair of shoes.  I think I wore them three or four times, but that fourth time was the golden ticket.

During my tenure with that company, which required me to act ac liaison between our clients and other businesses, a client asked me why I chose to use a certain business over others.  (I can’t tell you much because they might be listening; though, the company was Circles, for those of you who might know of them).  Anyhow, I told my client that I chose that business for two reasons: when I looked at their website, it was very professionally done; and when I called and told them of the reason for my call, they were very polite and answered all of my questions.  In their case, the approach was everything.  The next day, my client called me back, after I had put her in contact with the business and she said she was very pleased that I had chosen them.

So, I am not wearing a suit.  I haven’t worn a suit for more than 6 months.  I dress nice when I go out, but a suite would be overkill.  The approach is everything.  Now that I’ve gotten my name out there, it’s time to start getting my business out there.  Erickpettersen.com was my way of introducing myself to the San Diego community.  Now that I feel I have done that, it’s time for the service I offer to take the lead.  In that sense, introducing myself, and now introducing my services is the approach.

Check out my services.  I offer various packages and specials, especially for non-profits organizations; and you can hire me on Agentspayingforward.com.  In the future, I hope to offer my services as Green SEO content, but first I need to focus on what’s right in front of me.

Keep connecting,

Erick

Rufus Runs 4 Rescue – Sunday June 7th

My dog Winston was a Golden Retriever, and, even after 4 years, I still miss the old guy: he was a great companion. Some time ago I read about a group called Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue here in the Sacramento area, and learned about a woman who was rescuing abused and abandoned Golden Retrievers. I was astounded that anybody could abuse a Golden – it was just unfathomable.
Like all the charities on Agentspayingforward.com and ACNpayingForward.com, Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue is a great organization that needs help. One of the tragedies of the housing crisis and the economic problem is the abandonment of pets – including Golden Retrievers.
Jody Jones runs Homeward Bound, and she works tirelessly to help Golden Retrievers that did nothing more than get victimized by despicable people, or a poor situation. This Sunday, June 7th, Homeward Bound is having the Rufus Runs 4 Rescue. It’s a great organization, and a great cause: please help.

Qualities of Leadership

Follow us on Twitter! @agentspayforwrd

Blog posting by Erick Pettersen of People Connect.

This last weekend, a national audience viewed a great example of how not to connect.  At the end one of the greatest upsets in sports history, the leader of that team left the game without shaking the hands of the players on the other team.  The day after that event, that player faced accusations of his unsportsmanlike like conduct, excused his behavior rather than accepting responsibility.  In the same way that a player or coach walking off of a court without shaking the hands of their opponents shows something about their character, any business person who does not conduct him/herself in a team like manner reveals something about their character.

I played high school baseball, and my coach told us that we practice like we play.   Everyday we dressed in full uniform and practiced like we played.  Over a three year period (I transferred my sr. yr.) we went 29-1 during the regular seasons.  I believe ‘presentation is everything,’ and I surround myself with people who also follow that principle.

It is important that you practice like you play; though, it’s just important that you surround yourself with others who also practice like they play.  First, always dress in full uniform.  Everyday, I wake at 5, take a shower, get dressed, grab a cup of coffee, and read.  Everyday, I make sure I’m working in a clean room with a made bed.  I work at home, and my clients don’t care what I or my room looks like.  They only care that I get the job done.  The environment we create for ourselves begins at home.

Whether you are self-employed, an employer, or a co-worker, the people on your team are part of your environment just as much as your daily routine.  The clients you attract is evidenced by the team you create, and the team you create is evidenced by how you conduct yourself in all situations.

Since that sports upset this past weekend, Sports analyst have begun to question the future of that one player and that team.  I suspect that like other teams that have experienced major upsets, how that one player conducts himself in the months and years to come will determine the future of that organization.  In the same way, if you are a leader of any type of organization,  how you conduct yourself in all circumstances will determine the future of your organization.

Until next week, Keep connecting.  And come join the growing list of people on People Connect and AgentsPayingForward.
